Unlocking the Advantages of Pterostilbene: A Highly Bioavailable Nutritional Powerhouse

Pterostilbene - Un supliment benefic cu biodisponibilitate ridicată

Pterostilbena este un compus natural care poate fi găsit în afine, struguri, precum și în alimentele prelucrate și băuturile obținute din aceste fructe (de exemplu, vin sau suc de struguri). O varietate de studii clinice, randomizate, dublu-orb indică faptul că aportul suplimentar de pterostilben poate oferi mai multe beneficii pentru sănătate. Structura sa moleculară este similară cu cea a resveratrolului, iar ambele intră în categoria fitoalexinelor (compuși produși de plante pentru a se apăra de paraziți și insecte). Se poate argumenta că pterostilbena este cel mai bun supliment dintre cele două, deoarece este mai puternic și mai biodisponibil:

 

Absorbție

Spre deosebire de resveratrol, s-a demonstrat că pterostilbena are o hidrofobicitate și o absorbție orală crescute. Comparativ cubiodisponibilitatea orală a resveratrolului estimată la 20%, pterostilbena are o biodisponibilitate orală de aproape 80% la doze cuprinse între 56 și 168 mg/kg. Rata de eliminare a pterostilbenei indică faptul că aceasta se bioacumulează eficient în organism, iar grupările sale metoxi gemene îi permit să se difuzeze în celule mai ușor decât resveratrolul suplimentat.

 

Beneficiile pentru sănătate ale pterostilbenei

 

Reducerea tensiunii arteriale

Acest studiu sugerează că pterostilbena scade tensiunea arterială la adulții cu niveluri ridicate de colesterol(hipercolesterolemie). În timp ce pterostilbena a avut unele efecte adverse asupra colesterolului, aceste efecte au fost atenuate de extractul de semințe de struguri. Aceste constatări susțin teoria conform căreia extractul de semințe de struguri și pterostilbena ar trebui administrate împreună (la fel cum se face atunci când se mănâncă struguri)

 

Reducerea neuroinflamării (inflamația sistemului nervos)

În acest studiu, s-a demonstrat că 10-30 μM de pterostilben scade producția de oxid nitric microglial fără a se îndepărta direct de radicalii oxidului nitric. Acesta face acest lucru prin inhibarea fosforilării IκBα. Aceste efecte s-au dovedit a fi ușor mai puternice decât cele ale resveratrolului.

 

Glucoza din sânge și diabetul

Mai multe studii indică faptul că pterostilbena poate îmbunătăți nivelul glucozei din sânge:

 

- Prin suplimentarea dietei unui hamster hipercolesterolemic cu 25 micrograme/kg de pterostilben, nivelul glucozei din sânge a scăzut cu 14%.

 

- La șobolanii diabetici, 40mg/kg timp de șase săptămâni a dus nu numai la reducerea nivelului de glucoză din sânge, ci și la o creștere concomitentă a insulinei.

 

- Într-o mai mică măsură, aceste beneficii s-au extins și la șobolanii sănătoși, reducând glicemia cu 6,3%.

 

- La șobolanii hiperglicemici, efectele suplimentării cu 40mg/kg de pterostilbene pot fi comparate cu un aport de 500mg/kg de metformină.

 

Funcția cognitivă

S-a demonstrat chiar că pterostilbena îmbunătățește cogniția la șobolanii bătrâni atunci când se administrează un supliment timp de 12-13 săptămâni. Îmbunătățirile cognitive s-au dovedit a avea o corelație cu concentrațiile de pterostilben din hipocampus,

 

Este pterostilbena sigură pentru suplimente?

Un studiu a supus șoarecii la doze de 3000mg/kg de pterostilben în fiecare zi. (ceea ce reprezintă de 500 de ori consumul uman estimat.) Aceste doze nu au exercitat toxicitate clinică semnificativă.

 

Dar cum rămâne cu oamenii?
În cadrul unui studiu clinic la om, subiecții de testare au luat un supliment de 250 mg de pterostilben în doze de 125 mg, de două ori pe zi, pe parcursul a 6-8 săptămâni. Aceștia nu au prezentat semne clinice sau biochimice de toxicitate.

 

De ce să combinați cu extractul de semințe de struguri?

După cum s-a menționat mai sus, au existat unele cazuri în care pterostilbena administrată singură a cauzat o ușoară creștere a LDL. Acest efect secundar a fost negat atunci când extractul de semințe de struguri a fost suplimentat alături de pterostilben. În esență, în natură, semințele de struguri și pterostilbenele se găsesc împreună în același fruct și au fost consumate împreună de oameni timp de milenii.
