Unlocking the Advantages of Pterostilbene: A Highly Bioavailable Nutritional Powerhouse

Pterostilbene - Un integratore benefico ad alta biodisponibilità

Il pterostilbene è un composto naturale che si trova nei mirtilli, nell'uva e negli alimenti e bevande trasformati derivati da questi frutti (ad esempio, vino o succo d'uva). Una varietà di studi clinici, randomizzati, in doppio cieco indica che l'integrazione con pterostilbene può fornire diversi benefici per la salute. La sua struttura molecolare è simile al resveratrolo, ed entrambi rientrano nella categoria dei fitoalessine (composti prodotti dalle piante per difendersi da parassiti e insetti). Si potrebbe sostenere che il pterostilbene sia l'integratore migliore dei due, poiché è più potente e più biodisponibile:

 

Assorbimento

In contrasto con il resveratrolo, il pterostilbene ha dimostrato di avere una maggiore idrofobicità e assorbimento orale. Rispetto al 20% stimato di biodisponibilità orale del resveratrolo, il pterostilbene ha quasi l'80% di biodisponibilità orale a dosi comprese tra 56 e 168 mg/kg.  Il tasso di clearance del pterostilbene indica che si bioaccumula in modo efficiente nell'organismo, e i suoi due gruppi metossici gli consentono di diffondersi nelle cellule più facilmente del resveratrolo assunto come integratore.

 

Benefici per la salute del pterostilbene

 

Riduzione della Pressione Sanguigna

Questo studio suggerisce che il pterostilbene riduca la pressione sanguigna negli adulti con livelli elevati di colesterolo (ipercolesterolemia). Sebbene il pterostilbene abbia avuto alcuni effetti avversi sul colesterolo, questi effetti sono stati mitigati dall'estratto di semi d'uva. Questi risultati supportano la teoria secondo cui l'estratto di semi d'uva e il pterostilbene sono pensati per essere integrati insieme (proprio come si fa quando si mangiano gli acini d'uva)

 

Riduzione della Neuroinfiammazione (Infiammazione del sistema nervoso)

In questo studio, 10-30 μM di pterostilbene hanno dimostrato di ridurre la produzione di ossido nitrico da parte della microglia senza sottrarlo direttamente dai radicali di ossido nitrico. Lo fa inibendo la fosforilazione di IκBα. Questi effetti si sono rivelati leggermente più potenti di quelli del resveratrolo.

 

Glicemia e Diabete

Diversi studi indicano che il pterostilbene può migliorare i livelli di glucosio nel sangue:

 

- Integrando la dieta di un criceto ipercolesterolemico con 25 microgrammi/kg di pterostilbene, i livelli di glucosio nel sangue sono diminuiti del 14%.

 

- In ratti diabetici, 40 mg/kg per sei settimane hanno portato non solo a livelli ridotti di glucosio nel sangue ma anche a un concomitante aumento dell'insulina.

 

- In misura minore, questi benefici si sono estesi anche a ratti sani, riducendo il glucosio nel sangue del 6,3%.

 

- In ratti iperglicemici, gli effetti dell'integrazione di 40 mg/kg di pterostilbene possono essere paragonati a un'assunzione di 500 mg/kg di metformina.

 

Funzione cognitiva

È stato dimostrato che il pterostilbene può migliorare la cognizione in ratti anziani quando integrato per 12-13 settimane. I miglioramenti cognitivi hanno mostrato una correlazione con le concentrazioni di pterostilbene nell'ippocampo,

 

È sicuro integrare il pterostilbene?

Uno studio ha somministrato a topi dosi di 3000 mg/kg di pterostilbene ogni giorno. (Che è 500 volte la dose stimata per l'uomo.) Queste dosi non hanno esercitato una tossicità clinica significativa.

 

Ma per gli esseri umani?
In uno studio clinico sull'uomo, i soggetti test hanno integrato 250 mg di pterostilbene assunti in dosi da 125 mg, due volte al giorno, per un periodo di 6-8 settimane. Non hanno mostrato segni clinici o biochimici di tossicità.

 

Perché combinarlo con l'Estratto di Semi d'Uva?

Come accennato in precedenza, ci sono stati alcuni casi in cui il pterostilbene assunto da solo ha causato un leggero aumento dell'LDL. Questo effetto collaterale è stato annullato quando l'estratto di semi d'uva è stato integrato insieme al pterostilbene. In sostanza, in natura, i semi d'uva e il pterostilbene si trovano insieme nello stesso frutto e sono stati consumati insieme dagli esseri umani per millenni.

Oltre al beneficio che la combinazione dei due può offrire, l'estratto di semi d'uva stesso fornisce anche vari benefici per la salute, come:
